This Past Weekend: February 24, 2013

This past weekend I traveled to my FLGS and purchased the new White Dwarf so I could check out the new Daemons of Chaos that will be coming out. I am waiting to see full rules and points costs for all the units but it looks like GW is really trying push more monstrous cavalry into the game along with large chariots. I am also really surprise by the Khorne cannon. Khorne doesn't need a cannon!

I also purchased some goblins to being the major progress for my new all night goblin army. I am hoping to debut this army at Quake City Rumble this year, but if something comes up and I can't get it done, then it will definitely be debuted at the Alamo.

Finally, I finished my model for the Asrai.org model exchange. It took me much longer than I thought it would, but I can say that it is without a doubt the best model I have painted so far. I hope the person getting the model really likes it. Thus, without further ado, my completed Brettonian Pegasus Rider:

Here is the completed rider (minus shield) with some bad lighting. I went with blue as a sporadic highlight to offset the red clothing and the pale green as the three point color to tie the whole model together when he is mounted on the horse.

Here is the completed Pegasus. It looks angrier than I would have thought I could have made the model, but I think it gives the model purpose. The base is very basic, but provides a good scope for the desolate land the beast is flying over. The cape is the pale green to tie the model all together and the blue highlights are used sporadically on the horse as well.

Another view of the Pegasus all finished.

Mounted with no shield. The Pegasus is taking off, ready to combat the foes of men.

Another view of the mounted knight. I used the GW pain on gloss for certain parts of the armor and shielding so that it looks like it is a painted ceramic while the rest of the model is protected by a flat to keep the colors more subdued.

Finally, I finished the shield and positioned the shield on the model so it is complete. A charging Pegusus in all its glory!

And a close up of the model.

Next weekend I will be at the Bay Area Open playing in the Warhammer Fantasy Championships. Last year I managed a sneaky second place with my Wood Elves. This year I am trying a different list with different tricks because I know there are a lot of people playing with the new Warriors of Chaos book. Wish me luck, and I'll let everyone know how I perform.

    1. Thanks, and I heard that he was extremely pleased as it would be the first model in his child's room (theme was dragons and knights and such).
