Bill Curry's Tomb Kings

This is the list Bill Curry, Mr. Sporstman himself, played at the So Cal Slaughter 2012. This is also the army that I had to play against my own Wood Elf build in the third scenario that can be heard on Bill's Podcast West Coast Hammertime, episode 5.

Tomb King (326)
  • Chariot, Helm of Discord, Dragonbane Gem, Golden Death Mask of Kharnut, Great Weapon, Light Armor
Liche High Priest (210)
  • Lore of Nehekhara, Level 4 (this is the Hierophant of course)
Liche Priest (105) x 2 (Lore of Light, level 2)

Skeleton Chariots (430) (a unit of 7 to go with musician and standard bearer, Banner of Swiftness)
Skeleton Archers (150) (a unit of 20 with full command)
Skeleton Archers (60) x 2 (unit of ten)
Necropolis Knights (280) (unit of four, musician, standard bearer)
Warsphinx (240) x2 (envenomed sting, firery roar)
Tomb Scorpion (85)
Carrion (72)
Casket of Souls (135)

The most interesting thing about this list is the wide range of different troop types from standard war kitties to the carrion and tomb scorpion. When you have to place this army and you are unfamiliar with some of these troop types the game is really an uphill battle.

Also, there are three mages and a casket. But, it lacks a Hierotitan. Thus, what the army is more designed for is just chucking six dice at the casket to kill things rather than using the various spells from light and nehekhara to your advantage. Intersting, though my personal opinion is that if you are going to have more than a single mage in the army, then a Hierotitan is a necessity.

Bill's choices are outline in Episodes 4, 5, and 6 of his podcast, and our game is covered in all its drunken glory in episode 5. As such, I will just leave you with the full list above.
