Painting Contest Progress #2

A little more than a week has passed since I worked on either paint contest model. The models are due Saturday and I don't think I am going to be able to finish them both. So, I made an executive decision to finish one of the models (even if it is not perfect) so that I have accomplished something. With that being said, here is the progress I have made in the last two nights.

Lizardmen Saurus Old-Blood
I have started working on finishing the scales (as can be seen on the leg) and beginning the armor. The scales were highlighted with Khorne Red to Blood Gore to Evil Sunz to Wild Rider (like the armor of the Chaos Champion). They look really striking against the light skin. The armor started as one of the metallic brass colors.

A close up of the finished scales on the leg.

Starting the armor plating on the front of the model.

More work on the scales of the model including the head region. At this point, I decided that the model needed some color and chose Hawk Turquoise with a light Ice Blue highlight as a good accent color on the armor (though now I would have liked to work the gold armor up much more, but alas, no time). The armor has also been highlighted slightly with gold and silver edge highlights.

Finally, you can see the beginning work on the skulls and leather of the model that needs just a little bit more work.

The backside of the armor nearing completion and starting the rest of the gold armor and weapons. The skulls have had a little bit more work done to them and the tail armor is base painted in the brass metallic.

A front view of the model with finished leg scales and lower armor. The chest armor is now based and its time to start working on the face, head armor, top scales, weapon, claws, teeth and bone. Plus there is still the base left to finish as well as the small tokens and the shield arm itself which has yet to be touched. Lots of work and only two nights and a morning left to finish it. I hope to have another update with a lot more progress after another few hours of work.
